Easy Grants to Apply For

Despite the fact college is an academic experience many can enjoy now, trying to find enough funds for tuition and other expenses can be difficult. But you may not have to settle for loans to finance your college education. Just because free money isn’t easy to find doesn’t mean it isn’t out there.
We’ve created a list of grants (other than the Pell Grant) that are out there and easy to apply for. Take a browse and see for yourself!
There are also grants available for students with severe medical conditions and disease and those for unique opportunities, such as the Massage Therapy Foundation, which provides grants for students and individuals conducting research in massage therapy and Team America Rocket Challenge, which awards ten high school teams for their work in model rocket design.

- The Academic Competitiveness Grant: This is available for students during their first and second years in college. According to collegescholarships.org, $750 is given to freshmen and up to $1300 is granted to eligible sophomores. The ACG is given to students majoring in a “critical-need” field, such as the STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and foreign languages.
- The National SMART Grant: This picks up where the ACG left off. This is granted to third and fourth year students. Students specializing in the STEM majors can earn an annual award of $4000.
- The Boren Awards for International Study: These scholarships provide up to $20,000 to undergraduates interested in studying abroad, particularly to areas critical to the U.S. and underrepresented in study abroad trips.
- Federal Pell Grant: Yes, we know this is a popular choice. But if you have the financial need for assistance, most likely you can earn this grant—unless you are in prison or ordered to do community service as a result of a prison sentence for either a violent or nonviolent sexual offense. However the amount given varies each year.
- Check out CollegeScholarships.com: Other than the ones mentioned above, there are plenty of other grants available for students in need, depending on what field of study they wish to go into. There is everything from state-sponsored grants, college and university grants, career-specific grants as well as grants for minorities, women and nontraditional students.
